Some of the world’s most innovative artists and photographers are partnering with cruise lines to help change the face of travel marketing.
Celebrity Cruises has also launched a new campaign featuring images by Annie Leibovitz and others, as well as the world’s first free-to-use “open source” travel image library, designed to change the meaning of “all-inclusive” in the travel industry. all-encompassing” meaning of the travel industry.

Among the highlights were photos of author and transgender activist Abby Chava Stein relaxing on a cruise ship, Paralympic basketball player Amy Conroy playing volleyball on a Spanish beach, and Sikh American actor and designer Varys Ahluwalia meditating on a cruise ship cabin.
Celebrity Cruises, a division of Royal Caribbean, said it will offer many of the images through its new “diversity-centric” travel photo library.
“For a long time, travel’s ‘all-inclusive’ means that everything on your vacation is included in one price. We set out to challenge that traditional thinking by imagining the phrase from someone else’s perspective,” said Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, president and CEO of Celebrity Cruises.

The series also includes disability advocate and model Jillian Mercado, Grammy-nominated musician John Forté, who currently works with at-risk youth, and Sudanese-born domestic violence advocate Esther Onek.
Celebrity Cruises hopes to “start a movement” through the All-Inclusive Photography Project (AIPP) and call on travel companies to help address the lack of diversity in travel marketing imagery.
“As a global brand, we have a strong platform to act as a catalyst for positive change. We know we have more work to do, and we hope we can inspire others to join us on this important journey,” added Michael Scheiner, chief marketing officer, Celebrity Cruises.
The AIPP comes as the city of Boston, Massachusetts, launches the second phase of its “All Inclusive Boston” campaign, designed to showcase its diversity and attract a wider range of visitors.
Meanwhile, in 2021, online travel company Orbitz’s launched its “Travel As You Are” campaign for LGBTQ travelers, encouraging travelers to “see the world on their own terms.
